Evaluation and Publication Guideline

EVALUATION GUIDELINE

All submissions are evaluated by two independent experts according to double-blind review process.

Editor-in-Chief evaluates submissions in terms of aims and scope of the journal and its guidelines, including four qualifications listed above. Passes the submission to one of the sciences editors according to the submission’s main sciences category either in natural, social or human sciences.

Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Human Sciences editor evaluates submissions in terms of general standards of the relevant main sciences category, either natural, social or human sciences. Passes submission to one of the members of the editorial board whose expertise corresponds to the submission’s main discipline(s) and invites her/him to be the manuscript’s action editor.

Editorial board members are field editors of the journal in specific disciplines who act as action editors for submissions by managing the review process. Evaluates the submission’s academic quality according to standards of specific discipline, either accepts it for further processing by sending it to reviewers or recommends to the sciences editors that it be rejected without review.

Submissions are accepted either as, publish as is, or based on the condition of minor or major revisions, or rejected.

Revised manuscripts are accompanied by a cover letter, in which the first author responds to every suggestion by every reviewer in the following format:

  • the reviewer’s suggestions which are accepted and revised, and which are not accepted and explained in detail.
  • extracts from the revised submission that show how the author/s responded to it.

A reviewer’s suggestion may only be ignored if the (first) author, action editor and editors agree that the suggestion is erroneous, inappropriate, or irrelevant.

The editors reserve the right to accept or reject any manuscript for any reason, or to insist on specific revisions.

PUBLICATION GUIDELINE

The time interval between submission and publication is typically three months. This is a short period of time considering that Marxism & Sciences is free, open-access, and rigorously peer-reviewed.

The editors or action editor may need two weeks or more to find suitable, willing reviewers. They are asked to review within two weeks, but may need more time. If, based on reviews, authors are asked to make extensive revisions, a few months is granted for that as necessary. The revised manuscript may then be sent to the same or different reviewers.

Authors should not hesitate to contact us during the review procedure if they do not hear from us for more than one month.
