This document aims for describing the principles of the internal working of the journal’s editorial and advisory boards. Marxism & Sciences prioritizes the aims of the journal, yet seeking to achieve these goals collectively in collaboration with editors, editorial and advisory boards, authors and readers.
Editors
Editor-in-Chief: Responsible for the whole procedure from receiving submissions to publication. Evaluates submissions in terms of aims and scope of the journal and its guidelines. Passes the submitted manuscripts to the related science-editor according to the special field the submission belongs to–natural, social or human sciences.
Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Human Sciences editors: Evaluate submissions in terms of general standards of the relevant main scientific field. Then pass the submission to one of the members of the editorial board that has the expertise in the discipline(s) and invite her/him to be the manuscript’s action editor.
Assistant editors: Assists editors from receiving submissions to their publication.
Editorial Board:
Members of the editorial board consist of field editors of the journal in specific disciplines, and act as acting editors managing the entirety of the review process. They evaluate the submission’s academic quality and either accept it for further processing and pass it onto reviewers, or recommend to the sciences editors a rejection without review.
Advisory Board:
Members of the advisory board contribute occasionally to the journal by suggesting reviewers for the submissions, commenting on published texts about the journal at its website, or advising on other issues.
- Membership in the editorial and advisory boards is decided by the editors in collaboration with experts in relevant disciplines.
- Members of editorial and advisory boards serve for two-year periods with the option of renewal.
- Members of the editorial board may act as reviewers. They are also encouraged to submit manuscripts; such contributions are processed confidentially by other board members.
- For the issues dedicated to specific topics, conferences or symposia, editors may appoint guest editor(s).
- Editors may submit manuscripts; such contributions are processed confidentially by other board members.
